"Eye yam wot eye yam and dat's all dat eye yam." -- Popeye

"It is my deepest wish that photography, instead of falling within the domain of industry, of commerce, will be included among the arts. That is its sole true place, and it is in that direction that I shall always endeavor to guide it." -- Gustave Le Gray

"Art washes away from the Soul, the dust of everyday life" -- Pablo Picasso

Only a dumb photographer needs a smart camera

"Although modern eqipment is of remarkable accuracy, the process of determining the ideal camera exposure will always involve a considerable degree of judgment. I can recall seeing Edward Weston, who was not of particularly scientific persuasion, using his meter in rather unorthodox ways. He would point it in several directions, take a reading from each, and fiddle with the dial with a thoughtful expression. 'It says one-quarter second at f/32, I'll give it one second.'His approach was empirical, based on long experience combines with deep sensitivity and intuition, and his extraordinary results speak for themselves." -- Ansel Adams
